Savigny Clos Des Guettes 1966

It is said that it is in Savigny, a commune bordering Beaune, that the Côte de Beaune really begins, marked in its wines by a very assertive delicate, and fine character. Framed by the Beaune mountain to the south (which culminates at 409 meters) and by the Noël wood to the north, the vineyard occupies both sides of the Rhoin valley. It has a total of 370 hectares of vines producing red wine (including 140 in premier crus) and 10 hectares dedicated to whites. Savigny les Beaune wines have an average color intensity. Their bouquet is elegant, and quite powerful, marked by a dominant morello cherry-blackcurrant-raspberry, evolving towards strawberry and undergrowth after a few years. Supple, discreetly tannic, and low in acid, they have a light and loose structure, which gives them a feminine image. Premier crus, more full-bodied, lack neither character nor power; they require longer aging.
