CHARITY BOTTLE FOR  www.gofundme.com/zoemurphyappeal The most unique bottles of Irish whiskey currently available. These 3  bottles are from the very first casks laid down by the new Great Northern distillery which has Mr John Teeling at the Helm. The Distillery operates two distinctive distilleries pot stills and columns that produce a diverse range of Irish whiskey spirit’s including grain, triple malt, double malt, peated malt and pot still whiskey. The distillery has a current capacity of 16 million litres of spirit with an opportunity to expand production. The primary market for the distillery is bulk private labels, contract distilling, retail own label and supplementing spirit and whiskey for smaller distilleries and in the home and international markets. Presently the Irish Whiskey Market is the fastest growing brown spirit sales in the world. The Great Northern Distillery is a private company owned by the Teeling Family, Jim Finn and David Hynes who between them established the Cooley Distillery and rebuilt the Kilbeggan Distillery before selling them in 2012. They are from the 3 Different stocks that they are building upon which will be part of the largest independent in Ireland The Bottles are all Bottle No 10 of each Run From the First cask of single malt triple distilled Irish whiskey one of only 385 which were bottled on 29/11/2018 From the first Cask of single grain Irish Whiskey one of only 438 which were bottled on 25/09/2018 from casks laid down in 2015 Blended Irish whiskey one of 1000 which were bottled 14/12/2018 All 3 Bottles are individually personally signed by John Teeling and are complete with their presentation Tubes . Charity Bottle for  www.gofundme.com/zoemurphyappeal The Portmagee Story Portmagee is a historic fishing village in South Kerry and is the gateway to Valentia Island, the Skellig Rocks and the Skellig Coast. Portmagee is named after Capt Theobald Magee, a Jacobean smuggler who along with his wife Brigid Morgell from Dingle established a lucrative smuggling base in our harbour smuggling Caribbean Rum Wines, textiles and spices from Portugal and Spain to Ireland the early 1700’s. Portmagee Distilling and Brewing Company was founded in early 2017 by two brothers John and James Murphy who are from Portmagee, Co. Kerry. Together they have collaborated with Stuart McNamara, Irish whiskey writer and aficionado and owner of IrishWhiskey.com WhiskeyBlogger.com and plan to build a distillery and brewhouse on the site which was the old RIC barracks until it fell into disrepair. The First release of Portmagee whiskey is limited to only 399 bottles which were only available to locals in the south Kerry area The Blend started with a terrific nine year old single grain as the blank canvas for a Barbados Dark Rum Cask Finish (homage to Capt Magee’s smuggling past) and added some thirteen year old Irish single malt  to give the finished blend even more depth and character. Another unique touch is that the whiskeys are all married to the correct blend proportions in the rum casks rather than maturing separately and blended before bottling as is often the case. Despite its age and finish, Portmagee Whiskey is quite light in colour as we have decided not to add any of the normally permitted caramel artificial colouring. Nor is it Chill filtered. This Bottle is Number 397 of only 399 and is kindly signed by Stuart McNamara to add extra individuality to this Bottling for a very worthy Cause.  www.facebook.com/zoemurphyappeal/

Dunphys Special Export Cork Distilleries Company  (now part of Irish Distllers Limited) created a light bodied blend for American tastes in 1955 called "Original Irish The Very Best Imported Whiskey" which was renamed in circa 1958 as "Dunphy's Original Irish The Very Best Imported Whiskey". This was originally destined for the US export market to cater for the popularity of Irish Coffee, it was discontiued in the US in 1988. This 70 proof special export edition dates from the 1970s or early 1980s. A newer version of the brand can still be found today in Ireland and is sold as a budget bottling. A Very Rare Bottle from Irelands distilling Heritage 70proof  26 2/3 Fl ozs Hewitt's Whiskey Hewitt's Whiskey was produced by Cork Distilleries Company, Cork, Ireland and the brand was relaunched in May 1964 having commenced developing the blend ten years earlier. The Hewitt family were founders of the Watercourse distillery in Cork which later became part of Cork Distilleries Company. The whiskey was bottled at 70 proof with a driven cork with a mid level fill in the neck. This extremely rare bottling likely dates from the mid 1960s when the brand was relaunched to compete against scotch. Note whisky spelt without the 'e' which was common for distilleries outside Dublin at the time. Uniquely the original blend consisted of Irish grain whiskey, Irish malt whiskey and peated malt whiskey and was designed to produce a light Irish whiskey to appeal to modern tastes at the time. Again note the term Irish Whiskey does not appear on the label indicating that indeed it may have contained peated scotch. Following the merger which created the Irish Distillers Limited in 1966 this was re-formulated to exclude peated malt and the 'e' was added to whiskey. additional notes by Leo Phelan@thewhiskeybro
